Job Description:
A respected and long-established law firm with multiple offices across Greater Manchester is looking to recruit a Conveyancing Assistant to join its busy Worsley office. The successful candidate will support fee earners within the Residential Conveyancing team, assisting with the efficient progression of a variety of property transactions from instruction through to post-completion.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive and client-focused team in a well-connected, community-based office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing day-to-day support to fee earners managing a caseload of residential property matters, including sales, purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity.
- Drafting and preparing legal documents and correspondence, such as client care packs, contract packs, completion statements, and transfer forms.
- Communicating professionally with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, other solicitors, and the Land Registry to progress matters and address any issues or requisitions.
- Ordering property searches and assisting in their review.
- Submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) returns and Land Registry applications using online portals.
- Opening and closing files in line with firm procedures, and accurately updating the firm’s case management system.
- Maintaining internal checklists and ensuring key dates, deadlines, and compliance requirements are met.
- Handling telephone calls, emails, and postal correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
- General administrative duties including scanning, photocopying, filing, and data entry.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a conveyancing support role (minimum 6–12 months preferred).
- Solid understanding of the residential conveyancing process.
- High attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive client and colleague relationships.
- Confident using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Self-motivated with a proactive and team-oriented approach.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a high-street or regional law firm.
- Familiarity with the local Worsley / Salford property market.
- Knowledge of AML, GDPR, and compliance procedures.
- Legal qualifications (e.g. CILEX Level 2/3, Legal Secretary Certificate) are an advantage but not essential.
