We have an exciting opportunity at Aberdeen Airport for an Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team of highly skilled Maintenance Engineers (Electrical biased) and undertake preventative / reactive maintenance duties on a wide range of plant to keep the airport operating efficiently.
This is a permanent, full-time role working on a shift roster and will be based at Aberdeen Airport.

Job Description
- The nature of the business requires a flexible working approach in this busy 24/7 all year-round operation. This includes weekend and night shift working on a planned shift roster.
- In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, reliable service to passengers, tenants and other internal/external customers, through effective and efficient maintenance of airport assets, minimising its down time and maximising assets life cycles while being able to deal with breakdowns and emergency works as they occur.
- The role includes small electrical installation works as well as planned and reactive maintenance on all airport electrical/mechanical assets including fixed electrical wiring, general lighting and power, HVAC, fire alarm systems, access control, CCTV, baggage conveyor systems, X-ray screening equipment and airfield lighting.
- Assisting other trades where required and sharing your own knowledge with the team.
- To enable the delivery of a high quality, reliable service to passengers, tenants and other internal / external customers, through effective and efficient maintenance of airport assets. This includes completion of work in accordance with prevailing Aberdeen International Airport processes & contributing towards the continuous improvement of the maintenance service
Principal accountabilities
- Undertake planned or reactive maintenance work on engineering assets ensuring optimum serviceability which meets agreed service levels and provides a trouble free operational environment, applying the skills and knowledge required for the task. This includes inspecting assets which are not working as needed, assessing & reporting what work is required and undertaking that work.
- Undertake maintenance and engineering tasks in both mechanical and electrical engineering fields safely up to the level of competence for which you have been trained.
- Utilise CMMSs (eg MRI Concept) to receive, complete & close down work orders entering accurate data for resources employed including all labour and materials.
- Ensure all maintenance and engineering task records are updated in accordance with the regulatory commitments of and on behalf of Aberdeen International Airport
- Operate and promote working practices which ensure a safe working environment for self and others, contributing to the development of a safety culture and adhering to mandatory regulations & safety procedures
- Engage proactively in Continuous Improvement programmes associated with delivering improvements to customer service, safety, quality and cost reduction for Glasgow Airport.
- Communicate effectively with customers and maintenance team colleagues on the progress of completing and completed work.
- Work with others, including colleagues or trainees on a one to one basis to enable a broadening of the skill and knowledge base of the whole workforce to deliver the best possible customer service. Including a cross fertilisation of skills associated to particular airport specific and specialist equipment.
- Proactively upgrade skills to facilitate the maintenance and operation of new assets being delivered into service to ensure that they are maintained in a manner which keeps them performing at an appropriate level.
- Participate in task risk assessments and utilise them and method statements in the completion of all maintenance tasks ensuring that the work is undertaken safely and meets the required specification
Qualifications and experience
- Completed a recognised electrical/mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
- Relevant experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance environment.
- Basic knowledge of other trades (desirable).
Framework and boundaries
- Close working relationship with Maintenance supervisors and Engineering manager
- Close working relationship with fellow maintenance engineers and the wide airport team.
- Represent the airport positively at all times including while working alongside the public.
