Your Impact as our new Robotics Design Engineer:
- You\’ll be a vital part of our R&D team, working on the design, development, and testing of complex electro-mechanical robotic systems.
- You\’ll be doing rapid development and testing on proof of concept and prototype assemblies.
- Your expertise will contribute to the advancement of our dexterous hand products and teleoperation systems.
- You\’ll have the autonomy to drive projects forward, working in the R&D team which reports directly to senior management.
To be successful in this new Robotics Design Engineer role, we\’d love to hear from you if you have the following experience and personality:
- At least 4 years of commercial experience in the design, specification, and assembly of complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Proficient in MCAD (Solidworks or Onshape) and designing for rapid prototyping.
- A working knowledge of electronics and sensors such as load cells and joint sensors
- A track record of troubleshooting and solving engineering problems that arise during the design, manufacturing, or testing phases.
- Design/specification/execution of hardware testing (i.e. life testing, robustness testing).
Nice to haves:
- ECAD software experience (Altium).
- Actuator specification and design.
- Robotic joint design / kinematics.
- Mechanical power transmission.
- Materials properties particularly metals, plastics and rubbers.
- Specifying components.
- Electronic and/or mechanical system debugging.
- Commissioning the manufacture of components and subassemblies.
- Medium volume complex system manufacture/assembly processes.
- Design for Manufacture including: volume manufacturing processes (e.g. injection moulding), CNC machining, additive manufacturing.
- QA/QC processes.
- Basic Python or C.
- Excellent documentation skills.
