Salary:Full time starting salary is normally in the range £32,546 to £35,116 with potential progression once in post to £39,355

Hours:Part time (30 hours per week)

Contract Type:Fixed Term contract up to March 2027

Background

To assist in research (by carrying out data collection or analyses) to create knowledge through providing research support for projects and research groups.

This part-time post will run until 31st March 2027 and is supported by funding from NHS England. The post-holder will

  • Conduct and coordinate a range of research activities relating to the national use of the SCRIPT eLearning programme.
  • Prepare and submit applications to the Health Research Authority via the Integrated Research Application System (IRAS), where applicable.
  • Prepare abstracts and posters for national and international conference submissions
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication.

The research associate will be conducting and coordinating a range of research activities relating to the SCRIPT eLearning programme. This will require a dedicated and motivated individual with research experience, and with an interest in educational interventions. The work does not require any technical knowledge, but an interest in information technology or eLearning may be helpful.

Main Duties

  • Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews
  • Analyse research data as directed
  • To disseminate research findings using appropriate and effective media, such as publication in peer review journals and presentation at conferences and seminars
  • Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
  • Develop or adapt techniques, models and methods

Person Specification

  • First degree in relevant subject area, for example Medical Sciences, Nursing, Sociology, Psychology and other health related degrees.
  • Excellent communication skills with healthcare professionals, colleagues, and patients.
  • Ability to write clinical materials in a concise and precise manner.
  • Ability to read complex information and critically review written materials.
  • Clear organisational skills.
  • Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques.
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to access and organise resources successfully.
  • Good ICT and keyboard skills including the use of word processing, presentation packages, spreadsheets, and internet skills.
  • Well motivated to see tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willing to work in a team and play an active role in maintaining a happy working environment.
