Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Support Medical Secretary to join the Community Paediatric Service of the Children and Families Division. This fixed-term, part-time role is based at Bacchus Road, Birmingham, B18 4QY. The post is 16 hours per week, preferably across 3 days.

This role requires the ability to work on your own initiative while being committed to teamwork. It also requires good communication skills and the ability to manage the demands of working in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service for Community Paediatric clinics for a team of Community Paediatric Doctors.
  • Audio typing and handling telephone calls; liaise closely with Doctors and Administrative colleagues.
  • Organise correspondence around clinic appointments; type confidential, complex and often sensitive clinical reports.
  • Work under pressure, prioritise workload, and handle confidential and sensitive issues professionally.
  • Typing of clinical correspondence relating to community-based clinics and general administrative duties as a Supporting Secretary (16 hours per week).

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Proficiency in audio typing and handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands with professionalism.
