WEEKENDS AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

We are looking for a responsible, energetic and engaging person to work as a Personal Assistant for our 18-year-old son with additional needs, during weekends and school holiday times. He is a very happy, healthy active boy.

Pay

• During school holiday times, this job pays up to £498 gross per week
• During school term weeks, this job pays up to £180 gross per week (working Saturday and Sunday only)

Ideal for (but not essential)

Students wanting experience and psychology students, or someone working with SEN students in a school or college.

Responsibilities

• Go out into the community using public transport for functional activities, such as food shopping and to the barbers.
• Go out to organised activities, such as disability sports groups and a youth club.
• Teach how to use his mobile phone when out and about.
• Support with brushing teeth, washing hands/face, comb hair and eating.
• Develop independence skills such as cooking, tidying bedroom etc.
• Reading books at home.

Requirements

• Able to engage with a child with disabilities
• Able to take the lead
• Ensuring safety when out in the community
• Physically active
• Clear communicator

Hours and rate

Ideally the applicant will be able to work during weekends and school holidays (not school days).

School term time weekends

Up to 13 hours per week across Saturday and Sunday

School Holiday weeks

Up to 36 hours per week, to be arranged on various days throughout the week and the weekend

Hourly gross rate: £13.85 (National Insurance paid by Local Authority)

Please note: if you are only able to commit to weekends or holiday weeks, that could also be an option.

Expenses

• Oyster Card will be provided for public transport
• Cost of activities will be covered by family

Training

• Parents will provide full training and will shadow all activities until such times as both parties are comfortable with the PA being left alone with our son.
• DBS check will be required (the successful applicant will have a DBS check carried out by local authority at no cost to the applicant)

Location

Isleworth (Twickenham side)

Applicants must live fairly locally to Isleworth/Twickenham, and must be able to prove their right to work in the UK. Permanent UK residents only.
