Arconic Birmingham, United Kingdom. Arconic is seeking an Area Electrical Engineer to join the Maintenance Team based in Kitts Green, Birmingham.
Arconic is looking for an engaged, motivated and proactive engineer to support the Engineering and Maintenance team in the Foundry Area. We value integrity, inclusion and diversity, agility, results, and growth—both for our people and the business.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional engineering & maintenance support through applicable expertise, knowledge and experience.
- Prepare design calculations in accordance with relevant standards and legislation, adopting necessary standard formats and procedures.
- Address the financial aspects of contracts, including final project valuations, preparation of project briefs and materials, and presenting to clients.
- Implement improvements to improve reliability.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of issues.
- Support, mentor and guide area maintenance personnel.
- Plan and monitor activities during planned downtime.
In this role, you will
- Develop understanding of Electrical Principles and Process Control; a basic understanding of mechanical workings is ideal.
- Understand EHS aspects of engineering, including CDM, HAZOP and contractor control.
- Develop engineering specifications to relevant BS standards, codes of practice and Arconic standards.
- Project manage engineering installations using appropriate planning and budget management tools.
- Help improve plant and equipment up-time.
- Review tender documents from third-party suppliers.
- Manage budgets for project aspects.
- Follow installation projects with training of on-site personnel and complete project documentation and files.
- Review and critically analyze engineering drawings; follow drawing office filing systems.
- Demonstrate high competency in IT (e.g., Microsoft Word and internal systems).
- Lead and supervise contractors and on-site personnel during installations; work within and lead teams.
- Support area maintenance teams with issues and breakdowns; maintain a proactive, self-motivated approach to goals and targets.
You have: (required)
- HNC/HND (preferably a Degree) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience or a strong desire to work in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels.
- Leadership experience is desirable.

- Technical knowledge within heavy engineering and fast-paced production environments.
- Ability to analyze technically complex problems and develop suitable solutions.
- Ability to work with others at all levels and positively influence a team, with a track record of implementing change in engineering and maintenance environments.
