Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Test Engineer with a strong electrical/electronic background to join our Life Safety and Security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, developing, and executing tests in accordance with EN54 standards to ensure product compliance and reliability. A proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement is essential to thrive in this role.
Required skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience in electrical/electronic testing, preferably within the life safety and security sector.
- Familiarity with EN54 standards and regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with test setup tools, instrumentation, and software for automated and manual testing.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies, standards, and testing methodologies quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork skills.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Test Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that life safety and security products meet essential standards such as EN54. You'll be hands-on with testing, collaborating with engineering teams and clients, and driving product compliance to support certification processes.
Key activities:
- Implement test plans and procedures for life safety and security products, specifically aligned with EN54/IEC 60068 standards.
- Utilise specialised tools and equipment to configure and execute comprehensive testing protocols.
- Analyse test data, identify issues, and collaborate with engineering teams and clients to resolve failures and non-compliance.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test results, processes, and compliance reports in accordance to UKAS 17025.
- Support product certification efforts by ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, standards changes, and technological advancements in life safety and security systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and quality.
