JOB TITLE: Delivery Driver

SALARY: £13.45

Purpose of the Job

You will deliver stationary and furniture to schools throughout Hertfordshire in a 7.5 tonne van.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Transportation and delivery of goods from the depot to customers\’ sites, encompassing unloading and delivery into customers\’ premises (including delivery to multiple points/desktops within a customer premises).
  • Use e-pod technology to ensure accuracy of deliveries, completion of delivery documentation, information flow to the main depot and information flow to the customers.
  • Drivers shall ensure that the vehicle is loaded correctly and in the correct order for the delivery cycle. Ensure that the vehicle is not overloaded and that there are no health and safety issues with the load.
  • During the busy periods, Drivers will assist with the picking and packing of orders.
  • Drivers shall manage all returns of goods and collection/transfer of non-confidential and confidential waste from customer premises, including bagging and sealing.
  • Customer Retention – Drivers are the front-line interface between the client and its customers and are accountable in respect to customer satisfaction, positive on-site relationship management and ensuring that the customer always has a positive delivery experience with no customer request being deemed unreasonable unless on the grounds of health and safety.

Person Specification

  1. You must hold a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification and C1 Driving Licence entitlement allowing you to drive 7.5t vehicles.
  2. Personable with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to work within a team.
  3. Comfortable communicating with customers in a positive manner and acting as the public face of the business.
  4. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while executing requirements as planned.
  5. Be able to work with modern methods of communication, delivery systems, client service, client management, and stock identification (both telematics and e-pod systems).
