A well-established SEMH school in Essex, is looking for a full-time, permanent SEMH Maths Teacher to join their team from September 2025.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who thrives on supporting students who face barriers to learning – helping them to rebuild confidence, re-engage in education, and unlock their potential through creative and structured Maths lessons.

You\’ll work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team in a highly supportive environment with a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use restorative and therapeutic behaviour strategies to manage the classroom
  • Deliver differentiated, engaging Maths lessons tailored to SEMH learners
  • Contribute to the development of individual education plans (IEPs and EHCPs)
  • Work closely with support staff, families, and external professionals
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and consistent learning environment
  • Track and report on pupil progress holistically and academically

  • Proven experience with SEMH students or in alternative provision
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Resilience, flexibility, and a student-centred approach
  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
  • Trauma-informed training or experience (desirable)
