We are seeking a proactive Publishing Assistant (on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis) to support the Portland Press Publishing team.

In this role, you will carry out activities across the whole of the editorial and production functions to help deliver publishing workflows, to relieve copyflow bottlenecks, and to drive first-class service to authors, reviewers and, Editorial Board members. With a focus on researcher service, you will communicate with authors, reviewers and, Editorial Board members to answer questions and resolve any difficulties they may have.

The post-holder will work closely with the line manager to prioritise work to ensure that the delivery on specific publishing timelines and projects and will benefit from working across the portfolio of Biochemical Society journals and across editorial, production, and marketing activities – contributing to the whole end-to-end publishing offering.

Suitable candidates will have a background in the biosciences and ideally will have experience of working in a content-based role within STM/scholarly publishing.
