Job Title: Paralegal – Abuse Claims
Location: Manchester / Nationwide (Hybrid – up to 2 days in-office per week)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Paralegal to support a highly experienced Abuse team handling complex multi-track cases. This is an opportunity to assist on both litigated and non-litigated claims involving physical and sexual abuse, negligence by care providers, and Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) claims.
This role will suit someone with prior experience in personal injury, abuse, or sensitive claims who can offer both legal precision and emotional resilience. An empathetic and trauma-informed approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support fee earners with case preparation and management.
- Assist with litigation matters, including document preparation, diary management, and correspondence.
- Work with a case management system and maintain accurate electronic records.
- Maintain compliance with relevant procedures, court protocols, and timelines.
- Draft documents and assist in the progression of claims in accordance with Civil Procedure Rules.
- Collaborate with the team on department growth initiatives, marketing, and business development.
- Liaise with clients in a sensitive, respectful, and professional manner.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in personal injury litigation.
- Strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and related court forms.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Confident using case management software and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated emotional resilience and the ability to deal with traumatic subject matter.
- High standards of client care and attention to detail.
- Experience in abuse compensation work, industrial disease, or clinical negligence.
- Previous involvement with CICA claims or Legal Aid applications.
- Knowledge of limitation law and personal injury protocols.
- A proactive attitude towards business development and marketing.
