Post Title: Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics
SBU / Department: Health, Medicine and Life Sciences / Clinical, Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences

FTE: 1 FTE (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract
Salary: UH8 £45,413pa to £57,422pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield

Main duties and responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for teaching and research in the field of bioinformatics, across programmes. You will contribute to the design and delivery of learning and teaching materials (including examinations). The post holder will co-cordinate and support the development of modules in degree programmes and undertake the role of module lead whilst liaising with Programme and Year tutors and those in other Subject Groups. You will develop research opportunities and scholarly activities in the field of bioinformatics and support students as a personal tutor and research project supervisor.

Skills and experience required
Experience in the field of bioinformatics is required, including the ability to write code to perform non-trivial computing tasks. Relevant teaching and research experience, including contributing to successful research grant awards and/or publications are desirable but not essential. Proficiency in English Language, ability to plan and manger own activities effectively along with relevant IT skills is essential.

Qualifications required
Educated with an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a science subject, and a PhD or equivalent in Bioinformatics or a related area.
