Midnight is a cutting-edge, privacy-focused blockchain network designed to empower developers with zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. Our mission is to create an ecosystem that enables developers to build secure, scalable, and privacy-preserving applications with ease. Currently, in testnet, we’re laying the foundation for a vibrant, values-driven developer ecosystem.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a Developer Engagement Manager to operationalize and scale developer-facing programs that turn curious builders into active contributors. This role combines community operations, program delivery, and strategy execution, spanning onboarding, content publishing workflows, hackathons, contributor engagement, and real-time feedback loops.
You’ll build and maintain the infrastructure for a thriving developer experience: leading with empathy, prioritizing clarity, and creating systems that support both internal contributors and the wider community. You’ll work cross-functionally with DevEd, Engineering, Marketing, and Product to ensure everything we ship helps developers succeed.
What You’ll Own
- Execute logistics and delivery of developer challenges and hackathons, including registration, rules, judging, prize fulfillment, and postmortems
- Support the post-hack maturation pipeline by tracking project milestones, enabling follow-up, and coordinating with PMs and engineers
- Drive Midnight Quest operations: track XP, manage leveling, mint rewards (NFTs/swag), and monitor participation
Onboarding + Retention
- Analyze developer funnel friction points and implement solutions
- Drive integration across programs like Academy, hackathons, and Midnight Quest to retain momentum for contributors
- Manage timelines and logistics for authoring, editing, and publishing Midnight Academy content
- Track course analytics and learner progress
- Own the NFT credentialing and swag strategy for learners and contributors
Systems + Support
- Coordinate and manage shared calendars, event timelines, and contributor workflows
- Coordinate with Marketing to help fulfill swag
- Support operational systems across Discord, community events, and async workshops (Restream, calendar sync, announcements in Discord)
Metrics + Feedback + Reporting
- Implement community feedback systems (surveys, Discord forms) and synthesize insights for Engineering, Product, and Design
- Define and monitor KPIs across programs including engagement, retention, and contributor success
- Build dashboards and reporting tools that track outcomes from hackathons, Quest, docs, and community engagement
Community Infrastructure
- Support developer platforms (Discord, Discourse, GitHub, Community Board) by helping establish lightweight workflows for tracking and routing unanswered questions
- Maintain contributor guidelines and safety protocols in collaboration with moderators, ensuring clarity, consistency, and ease of enforcement
- Coordinate async support systems by setting up simple automations or team workflows to surface community needs and monitor response trends
- Recruit and coordinate community moderators in collaboration with Marketing
What Success Looks Like
- Developers enter through Quest, Academy, or events and quickly become engaged contributors because onboarding flows, comms, and support systems are consistently well-orchestrated
- Community platforms run smoothly, with moderation, announcements, and safety processes managed on time and without gaps
- Hackathons registrants receive timely communications, non-submitters are surveyed and analyzed for insights, submissions are rewarded quickly, and participants feel supported from kickoff to payout
- Feedback is actively collected through surveys and forms, synthesized into insights, and routed to the right teams with clear follow-up
- Internal contributors trust you to keep calendars, content pipelines, and program logistics on track, ensuring deliverables land when promised
Why Join Us?
- Shape the future of developer engagement in one of the most exciting areas of blockchain technology
- Work with a passionate, mission-driven team at the forefront of privacy and decentralized applications
- Enjoy a flexible, remote-first work environment with a strong focus on collaboration and making a meaningful impact
- Influence the trajectory of Midnight’s developer community and ecosystem growth
- Build programs from the ground up in a zero-to-one environment where your ideas directly shape the strategy
- Learn in public, move quickly, and be part of a team that values trust, transparency, and experimentation
Requirements
You Might Be a Fit If You Have…
- 5+ years in DevRel, program management, or community operations in technical ecosystems

- Strong project management skills: You can juggle timelines, tools, and contributors across multiple channels
- Familiarity with tools like Discord, Discourse, GitHub, Common Room, Orbit, and Zapier
- A strategic mindset and a deep sense of ownership for making the developer experience seamless
- Bonus: experience in Web3, privacy tooling, or open source ecosystems
- New starter package to buy hardware essentials (headphones, monitor, etc)
- Competitive PTO
