Job Description:

This is a fixed-term 6-month contract, with a 3-day work week.

We are Futurlab, an award-winning game studio known for PowerWash Simulator, the Velocity series, Peaky Blinders Mastermind, and more.

We seek a Technical Audio Designer with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating engaging experiences. Join us remotely or at our Brighton office. We promote an inclusive culture—see the Life at Futurlab page for more.

You will be responsible for creating and implementing all audio for a new project, shaping its audio identity to deliver a charming, warm, and satisfying experience with engaging SFX.

You will work closely with the Game Director and Lead Programmer, utilizing your technical and creative skills to manage audio across the game, primarily using Unity and FMOD, ensuring delivery to specifications and deadlines.

Note: Applicants must be UK residents or hold a valid UK work permit.

Requirements

  • Design optimized audio events and parameters based on trigger/modulation needs
  • Organize event groups and mix bus routing for quality and accessibility
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical audio issues
  • Ensure memory and performance compliance using FMOD debugging tools

• Capable of working as the sole audio professional, translating technical and creative directions into high-quality SFX and Ambience.

• Strong creative instincts across genres, with an established portfolio demonstrating relevant work and the ability to challenge and refine ideas for the best player experience.

  • Proficient in Unity and FMOD integration
  • Experience with setting up event triggers and modulation in Unity/C#
  • Knowledge of version control systems like Git or Perforce

• Programming experience with Unity C# and FMOD SDK APIs

• Knowledge of spatial audio and occlusion techniques (Resonance Audio or similar)

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience across multiple platforms (PC, Mobile, Consoles)

• Experience with audio-driven haptic feedback

• Interest or experience in satisfying or ASMR-style SFX
