Our finance team is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to ensure the business recognises revenue accurately and timely in compliance with accounting standards (FRS 102), collaborating with key stakeholders in the wider business to support the financial position. The successful candidate will have a strong aptitude for understanding and consistently applying revenue accounting policies to complex customer contracts and is experienced in working in a fast-paced environment to tight month end deadlines.
Upon hire, the successful candidate will contribute to implementing changes to existing processes and improve the use of newly implemented systems like Salesforce and NetSuite to strengthen revenue and cost of sale accounting processes.
Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the following:
- Validating financial information held in the system to ensure it aligns to customer contracts for new bookings, renewals and change requests, ensuring revenue and billing is profiled in line with expectations.
- Preparation of routine revenue recognition for customer contracts, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of recurring and non-recurring revenue and associated cost of sale.
- Participate in month-end close process by preparing and validating accounting entries. inputting journal entries.
- Maintain accurate provisioning requirements relating to revenue, including SLA\’s remedies.
- Completion of monthly reconciliation of balance sheet positions including deferred income, accrued income, accruals, prepayments and cost to fulfil balances, ensuring balances are fully supported.
- Prepare and analyse financial reports, including revenue forecasts and variance analysis, working closely with the wider business to understand business drivers. Provide insights to improve revenue and profitability performance of the business.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and other finance teams to gather information and ensure accurate data.
- Take the initiative to automate daily tasks, identify opportunities to improve revenue processes and systems and help integrate newly acquired entities.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
- Participating in departmental meetings and contributing new initiatives.
- Support external audits by gathering support and ensuring compliance.

Knowledge/Experience:
- At least 2 years\’ post qualified experience in a similar role.
- Experience in Software business and/or Healthcare/Local Authorities advantageous alongside experience in IFRS 15 Revenue Accounting principles for Software companies and knowledge of FRS 102 amendments and first-time adoption.
- Previous experience using cloud-based ERP systems (experience with NetSuite ERP and Salesforce preferable).
- Must be comfortable working in fast-paced environment, where juggling numerous priorities and deadlines is the norm.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, while ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard, in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability and enthusiasm to handle complex internal and external queries by prioritising work effectively and identifying the level of detail needed.
- Excellent persuasion and reasoning skills, with the ability to recognise when to escalate an issue and to whom.
- Strong analytical skills; able to produce and report critical information and patterns from complex data, producing accurate conclusions and recommendations.
- Resilience, tenacity and a \’can do\’ mentality that prioritises meeting deadlines.
Mandatory Skills & Behaviours:
- A qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with relevant post qualified experience.
