As our team is expanding , we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Owner – Travel, Motor & AVA Insurance to join us. In this high- profile role, you will be part of the Insurance & Retail Investing division, driving business transformation that allows customers to prosper whilst delivering strategic goals and commercial objectives.
As our Travel, Motor & AVA Insurance Product Lead you will help shape the long-term strategy for the function and will manage and execute initiatives that provide short to medium term direction to the wider business area. You would also manage teams helping them to maximise the value that they are delivering to customers by ensuring the product value stream delivers both business and customer value, being responsible for the entirety of the product lifecycle, including design, delivery, and operations.
You will play a critical role, working closely with business leads ensuring revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met as well as ensuring that the product supports Santander’s overall strategy and goals.

The difference you’ll make:
- Promote and lead a culture of innovation and experimentation, with the freedom to iterate and develop ideas, both within the Product and across the wider organisation. Shorten feedback and learning loops as much as possible.
- Capturing and prioritising product features understanding and communicating customer requirements; shaping the product strategy and vision; and ensuring effective cost and revenue management
- Provide insight to relevant stakeholders on costs and funding to continue Product development and growth.
- Engage with the business to understand needs and the business outcomes to be met. Align business outcomes to product vision and communicates both the vision and product roadmap to key stakeholders.
- Provide ongoing assurance that products are being designed, implemented, managed, and improved in a way that continuously delivers business value. Create, maintain, prioritise, and sequence the product backlog Using appropriate techniques. Ensure Goal Oriented Product roadmap(s) are constructed for each product that reflects customers desires and captures the needs of the business and technology.
- Lead sprint planning participates in daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, delivery and release planning, demos, and other Product-related meetings. Accountable for the creation user stories and acceptance tests. Proactive sharing of knowledge to drive learning, across the business.
What you’ll bring:
- Extensive knowledge of Agile Methodologies, Digital transformation, and Santander Homes banking products.
- Extensive and demonstrable skills/knowledge in maximising the value product teams deliver to customers, gained in product owner roles including customer journey mapping, prioritisation, backlog management, experimentation product metrics, design thinking
- Role model leadership qualities that nurture a positive environment, fostering new ideas and developing individual talent across the wider team, ensuring appropriate performance targets and development plans are in place.
- A strategic thinker with team management experience that brings projects to closure
It would also be nice for you to have:
- Deep Insurance industry market knowledge and communication for impact skills
- Demonstrable knowledge/skills of stakeholder relationship management including Team and individual management skills. Experience of mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- Understanding of the customer and behaviours to develop solutions that address the customer needs and deepen customer relationships.
- Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyse situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
What else you need to know:
- This role is based in Unity Place, Milton Keynes.
- We want our people to thrive at work and home and be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
- If you apply for this role in this location, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office location.

How We’ll Reward You.
As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs.
- Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
- We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
- 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
- £6,000 car allowance per year
