We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee the technical migration of a Product Information Management (PIM) system — namely STIBO STEP — from an on-premise setup to a SaaS solution. This role requires close collaboration with internal product and engineering teams, as well as with external partners.
Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end design and execution of migrating STIBO STEP from on-premise to SaaS, ensuring data integrity, robust governance, and minimal business disruption.
- Develop integration patterns tailored to STIBO’s SaaS architecture, working closely with their third-party implementation and support teams.
- Shape the technical landscape with a modern microservices and event-driven architecture approach.
- Drive the adoption of best practices, shared platforms, and sustainable methodologies to deliver high-quality software.
Stakeholder & Communication Management
- Translate complex technical details into clear, business-friendly insights for non-technical stakeholders, senior leaders, and product owners.
- Serve as the key liaison between internal product and engineering teams and STIBO’s vendor ecosystem — aligning on interfaces, customisation, and roadmap integration.
- Communicate risks, trade-offs, and delivery timelines transparently and proactively.
Product Lifecycle & Team Leadership
- Manage engineering teams through the full product lifecycle, from discovery and design to implementation, testing, and rollout — ensuring operational stability of delivered solutions.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance, support team planning, and facilitate delivery ceremonies.
- Champion engineering best practices across development, testing, observability, and operational support. Raise the team’s maturity and drive progress towards or maintain Elite DORA standards.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing software engineering team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, while overseeing budgets, resources, and workload distribution.
Must-Haves
- 10+ years in software engineering and delivery, with at least 5 years in leadership, principal, or managerial roles.
- Strong expertise in PIM/MDM platforms, with hands-on experience in STIBO STEP essential.
- Proven track record migrating enterprise applications to SaaS, ideally within large-scale, complex environments.
- Deep technical proficiency in:
- Languages: Java 17+ (Java 21 preferred)
- Frameworks: Micronaut (preferred), Spring Boot
- Testing: JUnit, Mockito
- Build Tools: Gradle
- Data & Messaging: Kafka, MongoDB
- APIs: GraphQL Federation, REST
- Infrastructure & Observability: Terraform, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace
Soft Skills & Leadership
- Exceptional communication skills — able to distill and present engineering decisions to executives and business teams.
- Experienced in managing relationships with third-party vendors and platform providers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead distributed engineering teams, drive product delivery, and provide strong technical mentorship.
- Passionate about engineering excellence and cultivating a culture of innovation.
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript.
- Background in large-scale retail and ecommerce environments.
