Introduction
Two Litigation Lawyers needed for dynamic and busy Local Authority in-house Legal Team.
The role
We are looking for two experienced Litigation Lawyers to undertake a varied caseload of legal work. The role will report to and be directed and supervised by a Senior Lawyer. Depending on the requirement of the relevant Senior Lawyer, you will undertake litigation and prosecution work as necessary.
The post holder will be expected to handle under supervision and direction of the Senior Lawyer, a varied caseload of criminal and civil litigation matters, and judicial review cases. You will be required to advise , conduct negotiations, undertake drafting and attend meetings relevant to the role.
You may also be required to advise Members and Officers, and will undertake all contentious proceedings where appropriate, specifically civil and criminal matters. You may occasionally attend Licensing Committees, and advise Members and Officers in relation to these.
Candidates should have experience in at least 3 of the following 7 areas:
Homelessness
Prosecutions
Licensing
Judicial Review
Education
Litigation
No recourse to public funds.
Although an understanding of, and familiarity with the Local Authority environment is an advantage, we would consider any applicant with a private practice background wanting to transfer their skills into the public sector.

Location
Whilst the job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, SE6 4RU we operate a hybrid approach , where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis. At present you will be required to work from Laurence House at least 40% of the time, and it may be necessary for you to come in for meetings, as determined by service requirements.
Special conditions
You must be a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or CILEX in Wales and England.
You must hold a current Practising Certificate on commencement of the role.

£52,269 – £54,360 per annum (PO4)

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
