Base pay range

Blair West are working in partnership with Pennguin, a scaling eCommerce business based in South Tyneside, as they look to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant in a newly created position following growth.

Within this role, you will be key to the operational efficiency of the central finance team, taking ownership of the day-to-day duties, while being given a development path to progress in an ambitious and entrepreneurial environment.

The opportunity:

  • Perform day-to-day accounting operations for the UK business, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately. This will include preparation and posting of month-end journals, sales reconciliations, intercompany loans, billing and treasury functions.
  • Take ownership of the Sales reconciliation process across all sales platforms and develop these when required as part of new partner onboarding.
  • Maintain the daily cash flow forecast and report any variances.
  • Calculating and reclaiming retro support claims in accordance with agreed guidelines.
  • Producing VAT and other HMRC required returns.
  • Liaise with and be a key point of contact in finance for all teams across the business.
  • Assisting with the annual audit.
  • Ad hoc reporting & analysis when required by the business.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of comprehensive and robust financial processes that minimise risk and increase productivity of the finance team.

You’ll be the ideal candidate for this position if you have:

  • Strong knowledge of Financial Reporting and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • A self-starter who takes ownership where required and moves initiatives forward.
  • The ability to work independently, while seeking assistance where needed.
  • Adaptability within a fast-paced and changeable environment.
