Role: HSE Director Location: London, UK – Remote My client is a market leading Offshore Wind developer with a 25GW project pipeline (application-consent) across Europe, Asia & the US. For the past 25 years they have developed over 10GW of Wind projects. Due the continued growth of their commercial team they are now looking to hire an experienced HSE Director to support the business as they continue to grow their international development activity. The HSE Director is responsible for the design, implementation, communication, and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs for the company. This position will develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all HSE decisions, which bear critical importance to overall company objectives, operations, and profitability. A typical HSE Director will include the following responsibilities: Responsibilities: Directs the resources and activities of the Company to support the HSE programs by providing advice and guidance to the Management Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness across the Company to create a culture that prioritizes effective HSE Review existing HSE policies and practices of the Company to ensure they are current and appropriate conduct hazard and risk assessments and change existing or develop new recommendations from these assessments. Management of key HSE deliverables for projects in support of the development and construction phase. Supporting the development and implementation of the projects Construction, Design and Management (CDM) strategy across the project phases. Support development and implementation of projects HSE Strategy and Plan. Interface with key stakeholders across the project to support integration of HSE into planning and activities. Build strong relationships with project teams to ensure health and safety requirements are embedded in design. Contractor HSE management in preparation for site surveys campaigns, FEED studies and construction etc. including support to the contracting process and CDM compliance requirements. Support risk and hazard management activities. Drive and support HSE verification activities. Provision of HSE advice and coaching on HSE requirements etc. Building safety leadership capability within the project teams. Delegate for the HSE and Consenting Manager. HSE performance management support. Manage environmental consultants to deliver required outputs to support Development Consent Order (DCO) process. Experience Required: Completed studies (diploma / master degree) in safety related discipline, Engineering or Science or comparable experience Experience in HSE management for major Offshore Wind Projects or Renewables Projects from the development and construction phases Experience in developing CDM strategy, implementation and governance Previous experience managing HSE risks in a major project or operation Experience in developing HSE Management Systems Excellent and demonstrable interpersonal, communication (oral and written), leadership and team-working skills Proven self-starter with the ability to work across project teams and lead by example Strong safety leader who is able to inspire others Strong communication skills Ability to work in an international team Experience in renewables development projects Broad experience in environmental and social management One team, agile and adaptable mindset Excellent and demonstrable interpersonal, communication (oral and written), leadership and team-working skills Self-motivated, proactive, self-starter Ideally already knowledge/experience in project management
