Design Engineer – Wireless Telecoms Infrastructure (AutoCAD, 4G/5G, Rooftop & Greenfield Site Design)

Telent is seeking a highly skilled Wireless Telecoms Design Engineer with hands‑on AutoCAD and Wireless Telecoms Infrastructure site design experience to deliver innovative rooftop and greenfield site designs for the UK’s leading mobile network operators. If you’re passionate about driving 4G and 5G infrastructure projects from concept to completion – without the distractions of FTTP, fibre or network‑level designs – this is your chance to join a high‑impact engineering team shaping the future of mobile connectivity.

The Design Engineer role offers a perfect blend of working from home, working out of the Telent Warwick office at least 1 day per week (agreed locally depending on your location), and travelling to client sites for major meetings if or when required. Full UK driving licence required and flexibility to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full design lifecycle of Wireless Telecoms Infrastructure projects, from greenfield builds to complex rooftop upgrades.
  • Use your AutoCAD expertise to create precise, compliant site layouts, antenna placements, structural steelwork, and cabling routes.
  • Collaborate closely with operators such as CTIL and MBNL to ensure your designs meet stringent specifications and future‑prove 4G/5G and Wireless Infrastructure deployments.
  • Provide critical structural input and innovative solutions for challenging rooftop installations.
  • Be a key technical voice in cross‑functional teams, helping to remove blockers and deliver “right first time” designs.
  • Conduct site surveys and engage directly with clients and suppliers, influencing design decisions on the ground.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD platforms) essential – your designs will be the blueprint for national infrastructure.
  • Solid experience designing rooftop and greenfield sites, including antenna placements, mast structures, steelwork, and load assessments.
  • Familiarity with operator specifications and working within CTIL, MBNL frameworks.
  • Telecoms‑specific structural or civil engineering knowledge is a distinct advantage.
  • Able to communicate confidently and clearly with clients, stakeholders, and field teams.
  • Full UK driving licence with ability to travel to sites and Warwick office as needed.
