Global Strategy and Engagement Team Manager

Division – International Division

Salary – National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £72,100 to £94,100 and London £79,300 to £104,050 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The FCA is a global regulator, supporting open markets through shaping the international regulatory agenda. The International Division leads our strategy for international engagement, working collaboratively across the FCA to ensure the organisation delivers on its international priorities.

The Global Strategy and Engagement Team helps set, advise and deliver on the FCA’s strategic engagement with all non-European authorities and jurisdictions. It also leads for the International Division on sustainable finance, retail and consumer, and financial crime issues. It enhances the FCA’s capacity to meet its statutory and strategic objectives through high-quality international engagement, using a range of influencing tools and techniques.

What will you be doing?

Lead and manage effectively a team of around 12 members, ensuring all are well-motivated, focused on clear goals and objectives, and able to deliver effective outcomes to the benefit of the FCA

Be a core member of the Senior Management Team in the International Division, contributing significantly to the shape, prioritisation and direction of the whole division, working closely and collaboratively with the Director, HOD and fellow managers

Drive forward the development and implementation of our global engagement strategy, delivering specific and tangible outcomes in line with the FCA’s Strategy 25 priorities

Oversee the analysis of key policy and political developments at the global level, and providing advice on strategic, policy, operational and supervisory issues

Advise and support FCA Executive Directors and senior stakeholders in their engagement with key international partners – both virtually and in-person – and working closely with HMT and the Bank of England to support combined engagement opportunities

Minimum

Strong experience of working on international financial services issues, including bilateral relationships

Strong technical expertise across a range of financial services policy areas, such as sustainable finance and capital markets

Proven management skills, including the ability to deliver through others, leading and motivating colleagues across multiple projects with strong experience of advising and influencing internal and external stakeholders

The ability to work inclusively and collaboratively, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, drawing on range of expertise across the FCA

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues succinctly and compellingly, adapted to the audience

Excellent self-management and organisational skills, delivering multiple tasks under pressure, and a proven record of role modelling the FCA’s values
