Information Governance Officer

About the Role
The Information Governance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the Council Information Asset Register and Record of Processing Activities Register are current and fit for purpose, and for maintaining all Data Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Sharing Agreement registers. The role is also responsible for Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliance and is the Lead Officer on recording, reporting and analysis of Security Incidents. The role provides support to the Information Governance Team in all aspects of their work, ensuring compliance in relation to Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and the Data Protection Act and is based within the Information Governance team, within the Directorate of Law & Corporate Services.
Responsibilities
- Keep the Council Information Asset Register and Record of Processing Activities Register current and fit for purpose.
- Maintain all Data Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Sharing Agreement registers.
- Ensure Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT) compliance.
- Lead the recording, reporting and analysis of Security Incidents.
- Support the Information Governance Team with compliance related to Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and the Data Protection Act.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who demonstrates
- Great customer service, good numeracy, literacy and communication skills.
- Excellent administrative abilities and attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment.
- Experience coordinating and managing Board meetings, minute taking, report writing and policy review.
- An understanding of Data Protection, Freedom of Information (FOI) and The Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) legislation.
Training will be provided on the case management system used by the team.
