Senior Electronics Engineer (Contract) – Defence
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to join a highly skilled team delivering advanced electronic products and systems into the UK Defence sector . This role offers the opportunity to work across the full design lifecycle on mission-critical programmes, within a technically strong and collaborative engineering environment.
The Role
As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will play a key role in translating system requirements into robust, production-ready electronic designs, supporting system integration, and ensuring successful customer acceptance.
You will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and external test houses to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Design of digital and analogue electronic circuits , PCBs, and electronic systems
- Apply design for manufacture and test (DFM/DFT) principles to ensure smooth production transition
- Systems integration and fault-finding at equipment and system level
- Support and participate in design reviews and technical presentations
- Liaise with external test houses to demonstrate compliance with MoD and European standards (including CE / UKCA)
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation (schematics, BOMs, change notes, configuration data)
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams on electronic aspects of products and systems
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company engineering procedures
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong experience designing analogue and digital electronics
- Proven ability to deliver against technical requirements through design, integration, and customer acceptance
- Experience with schematic capture tools (e.g. Orcad or similar)
- Hands-on, adaptable approach with the ability to prioritise and multitask
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, both internal and external
- Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electronics or a related discipline
- Current SC or DV security clearance (essential)
- Prior experience working with MoD customers and defence test standards (highly desirable)

- UK National from birth
- Background working within a MOD / Defence environment
- Role subject to security and export control restrictions
Working Arrangements
- Fully on-site role (South East England)
- Either:
- 5 days per week (37.5 hours)
- Compressed 5 days across 4 days (longer on-site hours)
Contract Details
- Outside IR35
- Rate: up to £75 per hour (all-inclusive)
