Overview
Part-Time Male Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF: I am a 17 year old boy living in the Ferndale area with my mother. I have a strong interest in gaming, especially Pokémon and Minecraft, and enjoy activities such as darts, playing pool, and bowling. I want to do more activities away from my family.
I have a diagnosis of Autism and other learning difficulties and can struggle to communicate, especially with peers. I can also be inappropriate at times and may seem intimidating. I do not like crowded places and prefer a routine; I find it hard when plans change at the last minute.
Purpose of the Job
I am seeking a male personal assistant to help me participate in social activities in the community and away from my family, to help build relationships. This position is advertised as male-only under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
Rate of Pay
£14.50 per hour plus 40p per mile where applicable.
Hours of Work
6 hours per week, flexibly scheduled on evenings or weekends.
Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Taking me to local fields for outdoor activities and summer games available at home when weather is good.
- Going swimming at local pools.
- Going to local parks to play football, basketball, or other outdoor activities.
- Playing darts, pool, or bowling with me; when playing darts, assisting with maths would be a bonus.
- Ensuring my safety when out in the community.

- Someone who can use their own initiative and think of new activities when we go out.
- Someone who can keep me engaged and adapt activities as needed.
- Someone who will not take offence when I am inappropriate.
- A driver is preferable.
- Someone reliable and punctual.

About the Job
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to commencement. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will be conducted to verify the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins. Although part-time, the role requires the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period. Wages will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay provided.
