Overview
A family in the HU5 area are looking for caring and reliable Personal Assistant for their 11-year-old son, Richard. He has Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Delay and is awaiting an Autism and ADHD assessment. The hours are 4½ hours per week, although the hours can be used flexibly within the 4 weekly pay period.
Responsibilities
- Provide constant supervision to Richard as he has no safety awareness and ensure measures are in place to keep him safe.
- Support and participate in activities he enjoys, including driving in the car, walks in the woods followed by hot chocolate, gaming, swimming and bowling.
- Support communication using Makaton Sign Language; experience with Makaton is preferred.
- Manage peanut allergy; training will be provided and epinephrine (EpiPen) administration will be required as needed.
- Use a car and access to a vehicle; mileage costs to be met by the employer.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Car driver with access to a vehicle preferred.
- Experience with Makaton is preferred.
- Willingness to undergo DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks; the cost is borne by the local authority/employer.
- Training will be provided for safety and medical needs.
- Understanding of working with a child with FASD and Developmental Delay; Autism/ADHD assessment pending.
