Base pay range
AVK is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our Technical Service Team, working under the direction of the Technical Estimation Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and technical quotations, predominantly for remedial work related to Diesel Generator Standby Systems. This role requires experience or basic knowledge of Diesel Generator Standby Systems and a strong mechanical or electrical bias. The Estimator will collaborate with the Technical Service Team to ensure high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and quotations for remedial work on Diesel Generator Standby Systems
- Analyse technical documentation, site reports, and client requirements to develop comprehensive quotations
- Liaise with suppliers, engineers, and internal teams to obtain pricing and technical information
- Assess labour, material, and time requirements for remedial tasks
- Provide technical input and recommendations to support efficient and effective solutions
- Ensure all quotations meet client expectations and align with AVK\’s quality standards
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies related to standby power systems
Requirements
- Experience or basic knowledge of Diesel Generator Standby Systems (required)
- Mechanical or electrical bias with a strong technical aptitude
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and specifications
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills for cost estimation and budgeting
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and estimating software (preferred)
- Familiarity with gas systems (desirable)
- Previous experience in a similar estimating or technical role within the power generation industry
- Understanding of standby power system maintenance or remedial processes
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
