JOB PURPOSE
The Rental Technician is responsible for the preparation, installation, and maintenance of specialist medical devices and equipment in community and acute environments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Rental Technician should have the following qualifications and experience as a minimum:
- Previous experience in a medical device environment is advantageous
- Experience in a mechanical or electrical environment
- Awareness of health and safety in a technical setting, including manual handling
- Full driving license is essential (maximum of 6 points)
- Effective communication skills with customers and colleagues
- Ability to work quickly, safely, and methodically
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Good IT skills, including Outlook, PDA/Smartphone, and ERP systems
- Knowledge of UDI/Barcoding and traceability systems
- Flexible approach to working conditions and changes in the work environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Rental Technician will be responsible for:
- Installation, maintenance, and removal of medical devices and equipment
- Decontamination of medical devices upon return from customer sites
- Electrical safety testing and diagnostic assessments on electrical equipment
- Delivering and collecting medical equipment/devices as per customer contracts
- Providing technical advice and assistance regarding medical devices/equipment
- Servicing existing installations to standard
- Adapting procedures and developing solutions to technical problems
- Using company systems to maintain up-to-date customer records
- Managing stock to meet business needs
- Providing an out-of-hours on-call service on a 7-day shift pattern, including unsociable hours
- Working safely and proactively addressing health, safety, and environmental issues
- Adopting new methods and technologies as introduced by the company and undergoing necessary training
