An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Maritime Standards Team. We are looking for a Maritime Standards Lead to in guidance and support to crew and the wider RNLI on Maritime Standards ensuring that our lifeboats are safe to operate and operated safely.

Your role

As a Maritime Standards Lead, you will be focused on the following areas:

  • Leading Operational Standards and Support Visits
  • Providing practical maritime and SAR SME support to the RNLI, to local managementand crew.
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and behavioural change in afloat and ashore activity.
  • Providing objective and evidenced based feedback to drive improvement in policy, procedure and other safe systems of working

About you

You will be passionate, motivational and have a positive outlook when working with and leading people. You will want to be part of a work environment that offers a variety of different challenges, and you will be someone who can work both on their own and as part of a team to produce positive outcomes

To be considered as Maritime Standards Lead you will ideally need to meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive, professional seagoing experience
  • Small boat command experience
  • Minimum of RYA or ISA YM Offshore Commercially endorsed
  • NEEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent H&S qualification
  • Experience in training and mentoring

Applicants should have a flexible approach, with the ability to work under their own initiative and manage their own workload, including being prepared to travel extensively, work some evenings and stay away from home when operational need requires it
