SUMMARY
SKF Canada:
Logistics Services USA and Canada is part of SKF’s global Logistics and Demand Chain organization.
This function coordinates and maintains the import and customs functions for SKF Canada ensuring that we are in compliance with CBSA, CSA and PIP processes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Customs
- Coordinates and maintains Customs Import Entry processes for all SKF imported products into Canada in cooperation with our primary Canada Customs Broker. Activities include coordinating daily customs activities; support EDI downloading invoices from SKF systems to our Customs Broker to facilitate Broker’s Customs entries, checking entries for accuracy, confirming entries to determine duty and taxes owed.
- Generates and Reviews reports for CSA process to ensure all imported goods are processed with CBSA at the appropriate time.
- Prepares Revenue Summary Form (RSF) to reconcile duty and taxes with CBSA by Generating reports, Sorting details based on division, balancing statement, forwarding to Accounting for payment.
- Processes supplier invoices in system for receiving and payment purposes.
- Completes certificates and claims, preparing USMCA certificates, refunds, and amendment claims.
- Maintains internal Customs systems and data; assists adding new products and tariff classifications, updating information, advising of obsolete information, purging documents, and archiving files.
- Maintains freight rate levels for standard air shipments and makes comparisons for potential savings.
- Determines, audits, and corrects the Customs Tariff coding for incoming products as necessary.
- Troubleshooting of customs issues and Internal Customs system problems
- Coordinates and participates in projects to improve day-to-day activities (e.g., PIP, six sigma groups, regional and global SKF International Trade Community activities and projects.
- Attends seminars and courses to keep abreast of current and future Canada Customs and Importing changes.
SKILLS
- Post-secondary education in Business or related discipline and a minimum of three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CITT (Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation) or/and CSS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation certification.
- Knowledge and experience of importing and customs regulations, refunds, CSA, PIP, USMCA, Entry amendments and drawback claims, traffic and transportation.
- Knowledge of MS Office and related SKF software.
- Good communication skills to deal with all levels of staff, as well as with customers to obtain information, suppliers to coordinate shipments and government contacts to reconcile duty/taxes.
- Analytical thinking ability in simple and complex situations to coordinate custom and traffic activities.
- A solid team player and high level of personal responsibility
- Good prioritization skills
