Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services.

Our purpose is to: Build Australia’s future economy. IB&M also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing global markets, trade finance, corporate and institutional lending to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business and retail customers.

Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC or Coverage) leads banking relationship management and the provision of transaction banking, risk management and capital solutions to our clients. The team’s purpose is to provide IB&M clients with solutions across the financing spectrum to support their strategic objectives.

GIBC teams include:

  • Institutional Client Coverage (ICC) – supporting our clients within Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) and Banks, Government & Education (BGOVE)
  • Corporate Client Coverage (CCC) – supporting our clients within Industrials, Transport & Consumers (ITC) as well as Future Cities & Network (FCN)
  • Natural Resources, Energy & Carbon (NREC)

L1 Operational Risk and Controls (Embedded team),TransactionBanking Solutions (TBS) and theChief Operating Office (COO) along with the Sustainable Finance and Environmental, Social and Governance (SF & ESG) team support these teams.

The core purpose of Coverage is to:

  • Proactively develop and manage client relationships and originate new business opportunities
  • Proactively advise, structure and execute product solutions, tailored to the needs of clients
  • Develop deal flow from clients to support IB&M’s strategy
  • Increase the penetration of transaction banking, working capital services and appropriate products the bank offers on an international basis.

You will contribute to achieving the Coverage’s core purpose by being a true team player. This entails a comprehensive understanding of the bank’s offering to the market across the franchise and ensuring client obsession, to deliver best client experience. Understanding how best to portray the bank into the market, to work within the ecosystem strategy and deliver in line with defined objectives .

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead senior client engagement in the assigned client segment;
  • Be a thought leader and provide unique insights into market conditions impacting CBA and its clients;
  • Develop, lead and own relationships with client C-Suite and Treasury executives to enable the capture of first mover opportunities with clients across the CBA product suite;
  • Drive transaction origination and structuring, developing innovative financial solutions and ensuring alignment with clients and IB&M objectives;
  • Develop and execute marketing and client strategies, leveraging deep financial analysis and industry knowledge to support profitable outcomes;
  • Collaborate cross-functionallywith internal stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery of the broader business strategy;
  • Manage and inspire teams, fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability, and thought leadership while ensuring a safe and inclusive workplace;
  • Ensure strong risk and compliance practices, championing Line 1 risk excellence and maintaining oversight of the control environment;
  • Contribute to system and process enhancements, improving data quality, reporting automation, and operational efficiency;
  • Support budgeting and business planning, monitoring performance against objectives and adapting strategies as needed.

We are interested in hearing from you if you have:

  • Minimum 3-7 years of relevant industry experience in the UK, understanding of the industry sector and key drivers;
  • Familiarity across product capabilities including fund finance, debt capital markets, global markets (FX) and risk management, cash management and payments;
  • Experience in engaging and building credibility and strong relationships with clients at C-suite level and anticipating client requirements; combined with a strong client centric mindset focused on understanding and meeting clients’ needs;
  • Track record of building and leveraging effective relationships across an organisation to deliver against financial and risk objectives;
  • Understanding of control and the regulatory governance and framework, aptitude in financial and risk analysis and financial modelling skills, working legal knowledge with ability to process complex legal documentation and appropriate knowledge of risk management/KYC requirements;
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, negotiation skills and overall excellent communication skills;
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline essential, post graduate qualification;
  • Industry body representation is highly desirable.
