Job Overview

Character Inns. are a group of family owned pubs on the Isle of Wight and we are seeking a skilled and passionate chefs to join our culinary teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and production, demonstrating exceptional culinary skills and a commitment to food safety. As a chef, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dishes while maintaining the standards of our kitchen. This position requires teamwork, leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
  • Assist in managing kitchen operations, including inventory control and stock rotation.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow during service.
  • Supervise junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
  • Help develop new menu items and contribute creative ideas for seasonal offerings.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role within the culinary field.
  • Strong knowledge of food production techniques and food safety practices.
  • Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
  • Culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are advantageous but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
