Job Description

The role

Our client is a leading global Asset Management firm looking to hire a Senior Manager for the Early Careers Programme team supporting EMEA. The EC team operates as part of the broader Learning & Development function and contributes to the overall L&D strategy. The position involves contributing to the ongoing development of early careers and apprentice programmes across three focus areas: talent management, employee experience, and data and governance. It is accountable for managing the delivery of the apprentice development curriculum both internally and in accordance with government standards in the UK and Ireland. Additionally, the role is responsible for delivering enterprise-wide learning interventions that align with the broader talent strategy and organisational goals. This is a pivotal moment for the team, offering the opportunity to set strong foundations and shape impactful, scalable programmes—particularly within Investment Management, where expectations for a premium ‘gold standard’ service are high. The role requires working closely with HR Business Partners and Centres of Expertise (COEs) to ensure programmes are not only developmental but also performance-focused. The EC team serves as the overall custodian for apprentices, ensuring alignment across performance cycles, development needs, and rotational planning. Success in this role demands strong relationship management, proactive stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence and communicate effectively. A flexible mindset, alignment with organisational values, and staying closely connected to industry trends are essential. Summary of the role and key responsibilities

As an early careers programme senior manager, you will:

  • Learning & Development
  • Understand business need, collaborate with the business to identify and agree learning needs and priorities aligned to business requirements, devise a plan out of it in line with the to support the enterprise wide learning interventions and Early Career programme
  • Design and enhance the learning experience for early career / lateral hires, providing suitable learning opportunities
  • Ability to present information using a variety of techniques such as face to face, online classroom, role-playing, simulation, group dynamics, team exercises, group discussions, videos, lectures and webinars
  • Contribute to the evaluation of programmes (including ROI and continuous improvement) and manage and update all learning materials
  • Active use of data analytics
  • Foster community-building initiatives for individuals in the early stages of their careers.
  • Co-design and facilitate development sessions for the apprentices and lateral hires.
  • Communicate with managers and participants in advance about development sessions, ensure participant evaluation forms are completed on time, collate post-session feedback data and commentary.
  • Early Careers & Apprentice Management:
  • Full project management of our Apprentice Programmes in UK & Ireland . This includes: coordinating onboarding with training providers and colleges, talent management of the apprentice cohorts, compensation reviews, management of relationships with training providers, tracking progress and completion of professional qualifications, ongoing pastoral care, performance management and working with managers to identify suitable roles on completion of their apprenticeship programme.
  • Full-management of FIL’s Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account (UK) and Solas (Ireland). Ensure Levy/ Gov. grants are being leveraged appropriately either internally or with external partners.
  • Manage relationships with early careers sponsors across Fidelity, through regular meeting updates and reporting.
  • Provide line manager support and guidance to managing apprentices, sharing best practice in management throughout the organisation.
  • UK Accredited Learning Programme
  • Project manage the UK apprenticeship programme for experienced employees who are interested in enrolling on apprenticeship courses, paid for by the UK levy.
  • Partner with internal training teams on cohort planning.
  • Manage relationships between training providers and employees, track progress of learners, act as the point of escalation if challenges are to occur.
  • Review options for levy gifting through the UK Digital Apprenticeship Service.
  • Projects
  • Support the early careers team with annual projects such as the global induction programme, end of programme management, year end compensation reviews.
