Mechanical Maintenance Engineer at our Sandown site in Aldridge. Responsibilities

  • Be part of our hands-on in-house team who keep the plant running by ensuring equipment operates smoothly.
  • From troubleshooting to planned preventive maintenance (PPM), perform hands-on work with specialist machinery to maintain production reliability.
  • Contribute to the efficiency and reliability of production processes through problem-solving and technical expertise.
  • Utilise a varied set of maintenance skills across fitting, fabrication, welding, and service engineering.

Hours of Work

  • 4 on, 4 off pattern, consisting of 2 “earlies” and 2 “lates”, then 4 off.
  • Earliest shift: 6:30am – 6:30pm; Late shift: 11:00am – 11:00pm.
  • One 8.5 hour Saturday shift in each 8-week period: 10:00am – 7:00pm.

About You

You will be a mechanically biased engineer with experience in manufacturing/factory environments, and a minimum level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline. Safety is a priority, with strong experience of health and safety best practice.

You’ll enjoy a busy, hands-on environment and be flexible to adapt to changing daily priorities to keep the factory running efficiently. This role can be physically demanding, so you should be fit to perform the duties.

You’ll also have

  • Team player who builds good relationships with colleagues
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Strong knowledge of environment, health and safety (EHS) processes
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Diagnostics experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and drive-chain fault finding
  • Bearing fitting / alignment experience

Desirable

  • Hands-on apprentice training programme completed
  • HNC or HND qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in heavy industry manufacturing
  • Knowledge of cutting & grinding regulations
  • Arc & MIG welding / basic fabrication
  • Electrical control systems experience
