Materials Buyer – National House Builder – Surrey This leading residential developer specialising in building a variety of traditional homes in the Surrey and South London area has an immediate requirement for a Materials Buyer. You will have worked for an established main contractor or residential developer as a Materials Buyer before and will be aiming to progress leading their Southern regional developments buying team in the future. This is a unique opportunity to progress quickly within the company and play a key part of their planned growth over the coming years. The projects you will be involved with specifically and initially are two in Surrey. The first in Dorking of 200 units and the second in Guildford of 243 units. Key duties and tasks you will carry out and be familiar with as a Materials Buyer within the house building sector. • Estimating material costs from project plans and drawings. • Researching suppliers and sourcing new building products. • Requesting quotes from vendors and subcontractors. • Scheduling material deliveries and maintaining records. • Assessing supplier reliability and resolving procurement issues. • Ensuring materials meet safety, health, and environmental standards. • Advising on material costs during the tendering process. • Preparing cost reports to enhance project efficiency. • Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers after contract approval.
