Job Description Education and Children\’s Services Early Years Officer – Fixed term until 28/06/2025 Lorne Primary School Nursery Salary: £32,010 – £37,626 (pro-rata for part time and sessional) Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional The applicant must be eligible for registration (without conditions) with the SSSC as a Practitioner in Day Care of Children, in possession of a practice qualification as noted in the attached job profile. Lorne Nursery offers Early Learning and Childcare to children aged 3-5 years. At Lorne, we are committed to providing an excellent early years’ experience, based on mutual respect, partnership and participation. We are looking to recruit a full-time, passionate and driven Early Years Officer to join our existing nursery team until the end of session 24/25. The successful applicant must demonstrate experience in forming good relationships with children, parents, staff and the wider community. Through the recruitment process, they will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, commitment, initiative, optimism and flexibility to their work. Early Years Officer Responsibilities: To be the lead practitioner within the Early Years Team and share knowledge and experience To be the key worker for designated children To contribute to child plans, IEPs and children’s planning meetings To provide personal care, promote welfare and wellbeing for all children To report on progress in learning journals and transition reports To share knowledge and skills within collegiate times and in-service days To take responsibility for the development and implementation of the curriculum) To support colleagues within the Early Years setting offering advice and guidance To take a lead role in parental engagement and liaison with partner services and agencies To building transition programmes To mentor staff To oversee medical consent, KIC forms for outings and excursions To clean and maintain the nursery environment To participate in appropriate professional staff development opportunities, in service, refresher training as deemed appropriate To ensure that practice reflects How Good is our Early Learning, Realising the Ambition and Childcare and the National Care Standards, SSSC This post is subject to review and there is a chance that the successful candidate could be moved to a different school in the future. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
