Position Overview
We are currently looking for a qualified and motivated social worker to join the Children\’s Higher Grade Social Worker team in Portsmouth.
This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office. This role is within the Fostering Support Team; the core business involves support and development of approved mainstream and kinship Foster Carers. Our service is committed to high standards and a culture of restorative practice. We are continuing to increase foster carer numbers and the menu of support to carers year on year.
This is an exciting time to join Portsmouth City Council Fostering Service as we strive to further enhance outcomes for looked after children. Many staff are DDP trained. We seek a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our Fostering Service. This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge within the fostering sector. You will have autonomy and responsibility to make a real difference.
This vacancy is with the Fostering Support Team. We want individuals who champion excellent social work practice, are motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, passionate, and have a \”can do\” attitude, sharing our passion for improving children\’s and young persons\’ lives.
You will work closely with children’s social work teams to support them in securing permanence for Children We Care For. You will support foster and kinship carers, hold a caseload of fostering households, visit carers regularly, and offer support and guidance to manage complex needs. You will write high-quality supervision records, Household Reviews for fostering panels and courts, and lead on placement stability meetings as needed, liaising with the placements team and training services.
Qualifications
- BA Honors or Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Social Work England Registration
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Experience in children’s safeguarding
