An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Health Care Professional to join the Health, Safety & Fire Team of CTMUHB as a Corporate Manual Handling Trainer (CMHT).

As well as delivering all aspects of Manual Handling Training, the successful candidate will provide clinical support in hospitals and communities. This is a full-time, Band 6 post, based in Glanrhyd, covering the Bridgend area primarily, with occasional work in other areas of the HB to cover staff sickness or leave.

The CMHT will also be responsible for managing the Band 3 Training Assistant.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and delivering corporate patient and inanimate load handling training courses and updates for staff.
  2. Liaising with the Risk & Safety Officer to plan training courses.
  3. Delivering practical training and advising staff on risk assessment, moving and handling, and equipment use, with assistance from the Manual Handling Training Assistant.
  4. Line managing the Manual Handling Training Assistant, ensuring practice standards are maintained.
  5. Addressing training needs during sessions.
  6. Collaborating with Directorate trainers and ward/dept workplace assessors on training and assessment.
  7. Assessing staff competence during training and in the workplace, including onboarding assessments.
  8. Providing advice on moving and handling practices, patient or staff risk assessments, and equipment issues, seeking expert advice when necessary.
  9. Traveling to other Health Board sites and providing office cover at Tonteg when needed.
  10. Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is part of NHS Wales, serving around 450,000 people across Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
