POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you a commercially savvy procurement professional with experience in automotive parts? We\’re looking for a skilled Commodity Buyer to take ownership of a defined set of commodities, delivering cost savings and driving supplier performance. Based at our Larbert site, you’ll lead strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiate supply agreements, and build strong relationships across the supply chain to support our global operations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Commodity management at Alexander Dennis Larbert Office for a defined group of commodities
- Develop and implement long term buying strategies for defined categories
- Deliver material cost savings on time to budget
- Ensure effective contractual supply agreements are in place with all key suppliers
- Develop consistent sourcing and supplier selection process
- Develop and utilise supply market intelligence for commercial gain
- Identify and action supplier completion and collaboration opportunities as appropriate
- Ensure effective management of key supplier relations and performance
- Develop risk management strategies for specific commodities
- Maintain and develop supplier qualification and Approved Vendor List
- Preparation of key metrics/reporting within the team
- Support buyers at Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers and stake holders
- Manage key projects as and when delegated by procurement manager
- Supplier performance and relations management

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of procurement and commodity management – including sourcing, commercial negotiation, supplier management and global sourcing is required
- Excellent commercial & business acumen
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Ability to convince others and influence outcomes.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve business goals and objectives.
- Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to plan activities, meet assigned schedules and achieve planned targets and objectives.
- 3 years in a similar role
- The candidate should preferably have a professional qualification in Purchasing or Supply (such as CIPS) or a relevant business degree
