Position Objective
- The Program Manager will spearhead the planning, execution, and delivery of a large-scale long-distance network, including civil and fibre deployment, for a leading telecommunications company.
- This role is responsible for ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while driving strategic objectives, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and promoting operational excellence in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Job Description and Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end management of Long-Distance Network – civil and fibre deployment (3000 km a year), including planning, resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and client expectations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, procurement, and external vendors, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Oversee the deployment of fibre optic infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery.
- Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders, presenting detailed reports on project status, milestones, and key performance indicators.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within project teams.
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance processes and drive continuous improvement in project delivery methodologies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field; PMP or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management, with at least 10 years in telecommunications and fibre optic rollout projects of up to 3000 KM in a year.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex projects in a telecommunications environment.
- In-depth knowledge of fibre optic network design, deployment, and testing processes.
- Strong understanding of telecom industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing third-party vendors and contractors.
