Summary of theMaintenance Managerrole
Salary: £65,000 per annum
Job Location: Bedford
Type of Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm
Responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager
- Coordinate and allocate shift-based engineering resources.
- Manage attendance, discipline, and performance data for the engineering team.
- Deliver and maintain the preventative maintenance programme.
- Oversee engineering contractors on site, ensuring compliance and quality standards.
- Ensure the timely completion of reports, logs, and necessary paperwork.
- Identify and manage critical spare parts, including warehousing, stock control, and reordering systems.
- Forecast and manage the budget for spare parts, statutory inspections, and condition monitoring.
- Analyse skills gaps and define development needs within the team.
- Coach and mentor staff to maximise performance and support career development.
Requirements for a successful Maintenance Manager
- HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
- COSHH, SEAR, and PTW trained, with a detailed understanding of safe chemical usage.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments.
- Strong leadership skills, with a track record of managing teams and contractors.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in forecasting and budget management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
