Senior Designer
Location: Clacton-on-Sea
Salary: 30,000 – 34,000 per annum
Prime Appointments is working with an established manufacturing business to recruit a Senior Designer to join their technical team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced designer with strong technical skills in 2D/3D modelling, a background in structural or engineering design, and a proactive, detail-driven approach.
You\’ll be working across multiple departments to develop accurate technical drawings and practical design solutions that meet customer and production needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project delivery, continuous improvement initiatives, and mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities:
- Produce precise 2D and 3D drawings using Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD
- Apply engineering calculations to specify structural components
- Liaise with Project Managers, Production, and Engineering to resolve technical issues
- Interpret client drawings and specifications with a high level of accuracy
- Manage documentation and maintain drawing records in line with company systems
- Contribute to product development and help maintain design libraries
- Support and mentor junior designers as required
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a senior or technical design role
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, structures, and specifications
- Proficient in CAD software: Inventor, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD (BIM/Revit a plus)
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organisation
- Knowledge of GRP/composites is desirable but not essential
- Familiarity with document control systems is an advantage
