Elevation Recruitment Group is recruiting for a high-growth, deep tech start-up developing a world-leading semiconductor business.
Our client seeks a highly motivated Applications Engineer to join their pioneering team based in Sheffield.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting customers with technical queries related to advanced APD detector products
- Collaborating with Sales, Field Applications Engineers (FAEs), and Engineering to provide expert product support
- Leading customer engagement during new product introductions and design-in activities
- Conducting lab experiments and product evaluations to support applications development
- Developing technical documentation including application notes, training materials, and reference designs
- Managing the delivery and support of evaluation kits and reference design boards
- Attending trade shows and visiting customers to provide technical support and demonstrations
- Acting as a technical expert across the company\’s product range and contributing to product roadmap development
Requirements:
- A degree (BSc/BEng/MSc/PhD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Optoelectronics, or Physics
- 5+ years of experience in Photonics, Semiconductor, or Data/Telecommunications sectors
- Proven experience in applications, evaluation, or design engineering within detectors, optical components, or communication systems
- Strong understanding of analogue and mixed-signal semiconductor products and optical sensing technologies
- Practical experience with optical receiver systems including APDs, photodiodes, laser range finding, LiDAR, or high-speed optical communications
- Familiarity with circuit simulation, data visualization tools, and MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset
- Organized, problem-solving approach with ability to work across cross-functional teams
