Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA)
Location: Telford TF2 9** The client’s own home (with their family and 3 small dogs)
Hours of Work: During induction and training: 0 to 20 hours per week, depending on training needs.
After successful induction: Minimum of 10 to a Maximum 16 hours per week, based on the needs of the client.
Days and hours are flexible and will be agreed in advance. Additional hours may be offered depending on the needs of the employer and staff availability.
Pay: £13.00 per hour during induction period.
£15.00 per hour after successful induction and training.
Holiday: 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday per year, calculated pro rata based on hours worked.
Probationary period: Three months, during which performance and suitability will be reviewed. The probationary period may be extended if additional training or support is required.
DBS: Successful appointment is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and receipt of two satisfactory references. This is at the employer’s costs.

About the Role
As a Personal Assistant, you will support a young individual with complex health needs to live well at home and in the community. Your role will include assisting with healthcare, personal care, domestic tasks, and social activities. Respect for the clients home, family, and pets is essential.
The client is well-known and active in the local community he is friendly, outgoing, and full of personality.
A good sense of humour is a must, and being able to work with warmth, flexibility, and a positive attitude will go a long way in this role.

Key Responsibilities
Social & Daily Living
Build the client’s confidence in social and community settings.
Accompany the client to appointments, events, and outings.
Support chosen hobbies and activities.
Assist with daily routines and tasks.
Use slings, ceiling hoists, and manual or powered wheelchairs.
Operate medical devices including suction machines, feeding pumps, oxygen equipment, and cough assist machines.
Domestic Tasks
Perform light domestic duties related to the client (cleaning, laundry).
Assist with vehicle transfers using ramps and clamps.
Drive the client’s mobility vehicle, when required, ensuring all necessary checks and safety procedures are followed in accordance with legal and organisational requirements. Full licence, clean.
Personal Care
Support all aspects of personal hygiene and care.
Medical Support
Check, operate, and maintain medical equipment such as oxygen, nebulisers, and feeding pumps.
Monitoring and Suctioning: Regular monitoring and suctioning throughout the day and evening to maintain airway clearance and minimise the risk of aspiration.
Administer and accurately record medication.
Support PEG feeding, stoma care, and bowel care.
Monitor and document vital signs including blood pressure, oxygen levels, and heart rate.
Maintain daily care logs and records.
Respond to epilepsy monitoring and skin checks.
Recognise and report signs of pressure sores.
General Expectations
Maintain punctuality, demonstrate professionalism, and wear appropriate clothing suitable for the role.
Limit the use of personal mobile phones during working hours to essential or emergency use only.
Smoking and the consumption of alcohol are strictly prohibited during working hours.
Maintain client confidentiality and respect privacy.
Treat the client, their family, and pets with dignity and care.
Training
Clinical and manual handling training will be provided and funded.
Training includes familiarisation with client preferences.
Perform only those tasks for which you have been trained and feel confident; always ask for support or guidance if unsure.
Flexibility
You may be required to work alongside a second Personal Assistant on occasion.
Working days and hours will be flexible and agreed in advance, according to the client’s needs.
Additional hours may be offered following a successful probationary period.
