Job Overview
Aramark UK is recruiting a Food Service Assistant to join our team working at HMP Erlestoke Devises UK. We are making a work‑life balance achievable while still working in hospitality, cultivating your culinary career with a world‑leading organisation.
Responsibilities
- Cook and prepare food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures.
- Safely handle knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, etc.
- Provide high levels of service of food and/or beverages to customers, adhering to the standards set by the company.
- Supervise prisoners in the area producing the meals and delivering table service.
- Perform cleaning and replenishment duties associated with service and related equipment and/or furniture, ensuring the service area and service points are clean and stocked.
- Assemble and serve food efficiently, which may include some light cooking.
- Monitor and record food and equipment temperatures.
- Handle cash transactions and ensure accurate cash handling procedures are followed in accordance with company procedure and till procedures.
- Work with minimal direction as part of a team.

Qualifications
- Ideally, previous experience within a catering environment.
- On‑the‑job training will be provided; must acquire a basic food hygiene qualification within the first six months of employment.
- Good understanding of written and spoken English.
- Customer service experience.
- Good timekeeping.
- Have resided in the UK for the past five years and have the legal right to work.
- Must be able to pass full security vetting and DBS checks.
