Role Overview
The Programmes and Operations Manager provides strategic leadership and hands-on coordination across BBYO UK’s national programming, volunteer network, and operational infrastructure. This pivotal role ensures the smooth planning and delivery of events while driving efficiency, youth engagement, and impactful communications. At its core, the role exists to further BBYO’s mission: empowering Jewish teens to become confident, resilient leaders through a peer-led model of youth leadership and community building.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Monitor and manage programme and volunteer budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and transparency.
- Manage onboarding and training for part-time and seasonal staff.
- Maintain oversight of inventory and merchandise management, including storage unit logistics.
- Leverage digital tools and CRM platforms (e.g., Jotform, Mailchimp, Salesforce) to streamline programme administration and strengthen communication with members and stakeholders.
Programme Design and Delivery:
- Lead and support teen leaders in developing and delivering BBYO UK’s national and chapter programmes in accordance with BBYO “Kivun” programming framework.
- Mentor the National Executive Board, chapter leaders, and alumni volunteers to grow their leadership capacity.
- Collaborate with partner organisations to enhance the relevance, innovation, and quality of programming.
- Oversee logistics for national events, including venue sourcing, transport, equipment, and food planning.
Volunteer Infrastructure and Youth Engagement
- Work with a network of ‘bogrim’ (recent alumni) to provide support for national and chapter programming.
- Guide recruitment efforts for Year 7 and 8 participants into BBYO throughout the year, and Shorashim Camp specifically, integrating them early into BBYO’s journey.
- Support recruitment and development of new chapters in regions outside of London.
Social Media and Communications
- Lead BBYO UK’s digital communications strategy to promote events and strengthen brand visibility.
- Produce and publish engaging content across social media platforms, tailored for teen and parent audiences.
- Create and distribute digital and print communications to members, families, alumni, and stakeholders.
- Support national recruitment campaigns through compelling, age-relevant content.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in youth programming, volunteer coordination, and operational management.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to inspire, engage, and build trust with teens and young adults.
- Proficiency with digital platforms, social media, and CRM systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative, adaptable team player with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Full, clean UK driver’s licence.
- Willingness to work outside standard hours, including evenings and Sundays, to align with teen availability.
- Availability to attend key events includes but is not limited to:
– 4-5 residential weekends per year
– 10-days to International Convention in the US (February)
– Annual visit to the summer Trek programme abroad (Israel or Europe)
– Additional training seminars and BBYO events as required
