As a Deputy Manager you’ll support the Hostel Manager with the day-to-day management of the hostel. You’ll create a great place for our teams to work and ensure our guests have a great experience in our hostels.

What will you be doing as a Deputy Manager?
Required
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
- Delivering an excellent customer experience to all hostel guests.
- Contributing towards the achievement of targets across all aspects of the hostel operation including food and beverage, and responsibility for maximising revenue whilst controlling expenditure.
- Supporting the Hostel Manager by managing a team of employees and occasional volunteers.
- Contributing to the team effort in the day-to-day operation of the hostel, undertaking housekeeping, reception, and food and beverage tasks on a daily basis.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Deputy Manager?
Our Deputy Managers support the Hostel Managers in managing the hostel team, the operational budget and safeguarding all guests.
To provide this service we are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience in hospitality or customer service, including the management and delivery of a quality service
- Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands – can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties
- Experience of managing a team – experience of leading others, providing guidance to members of your team (desirable)
- Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications (desirable)
- Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) – able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
- Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it
