This role is offered on a hybrid basis, which involves a combination of working from our offices and also remotely.
We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our high performing Bids Team here at RS, as a Bid Manager. This role has great growth and development opportunity and will be perfect for a collaborative and innovative person with a proven track record of collaboration and of course strong bid/proposal writing.
What else you will be doing in the role
This individual will truly sit at the heart of our company and be a massive part of our success moving forward. Beyond drafting and overseeing bids, you will be working in collaboration with our Sales Team as a \’go-to bids expert\’ attending their meetings and making sizeable contributions to the decision-making process on our company\’s direction in our business covering various industries, both regulated and not.
This is a really varied role, but we hope below will give you a good feel for what you would be doing as our Bid Manager:
- Manage the end-to-end bid process, including coordinating internal stakeholders, writing compelling proposals, and ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, across a wide-range of industries and sectors.
- Develop and maintain bid/no-bid criteria specific to industry opportunities.
- Create high-quality, compliant tender responses that align with evaluation criteria and procurement frameworks.
- Lead sales and bid teams through complex tender processes, including Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and Invitations to Tender (ITTs)
- Conduct post-bid analysis and manage the feedback process to improve future submissions.
- Utilise Salesforce to manage the end-to-end tender process and communications and Microsoft Teams for working documents.
- Lead or support hand over to Contract Implementation from the Bid Team once bid is won, ensuring that a full and robust understanding of all aspects of the deal is embedded within the Contract Implementation Team, maximising probability of successful execution.
A bit about what you will need to be successful in this position
We are ideally looking for someone who can match at least the following criteria of experience and skills:
- A good foundation of experience and success in the management of bids and wins across a wide-range of industries/sectors including some regulated industries (Rail, Health, Construction, etc.).
- Good knowledge of procurement regulations and frameworks.
- Strong understanding of evaluation criteria and scoring methodologies.
- Excellent project management abilities with experience in managing multiple bids at a time.
- Reliable attention to detail and ability to interpret complex tender docs.
- Tech skills wise – advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as experience with e-procurement platforms and portals.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Experience in managing large, complex bids (>£1M)
