Apprentice Administrator – Suffolk County Council

Job Overview

Join the Children and Young People’s Services team to support front‑line staff working with vulnerable children and families. This apprenticeship offers a chance to develop a range of administrative and financial skills while making a positive impact across Suffolk.

  • Address: West Suffolk House, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 3YU – Hybrid office.
  • Salary: £24,796 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time).
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, flexible working options available.
  • Contract: Fixed term – 21 months (including a 3‑month end‑point assessment).

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and financial support to front‑line staff.
  • Complete, update and upload information to the case‑management database.
  • Act as the first point of contact on the telephone for members of the public and professionals.
  • Arrange meetings and take minutes between staff, other professionals, and families.
  • Place orders with suppliers to support the team’s work.

Apprenticeship Details

  • Level 3 Business Administration.
  • 21 months duration (including training and assessment).
  • Mentoring by team colleagues and designated apprenticeship provider.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork ability and professionalism.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Teams or equivalent.
